Overview

A typical 4-year-old kindergarten day would involve...

• Children arrive and participate in the indoor program, they can have progressive snack whilst indoors. Participate in the sensory room, sewing, block play, construction, playdough. Make choices from the choice book of what they would like out from the storeroom are some ideas of what they can do.

• Yarning Circle where children can bring something to talk about and answer questions from their peers

• Group time, which varies from music/movement, discussions, stories, games., puppets, parachute, Acknowledgement of Country

• Children participate in the outdoor program

• Relaxation time - Yoga, mindfulness, listening to stories, meditation, mindfulness colouring.

• Lunch time - whole group on the deck at the eating tables , in the community garden or on the grassed area.

• Outdoor play - digging in the digging patch, building with large outdoor blocks, planting in the community garden, on the swings, quiet activities on the deck.....many choices of what to do whilst outside

• Group time and Indoor play including progressive afternoon tea

• Soft close - for 3/4 hour before pick up time to allow parents/carers flexibility of picking up and joining in quiet activities inside.

• Bush Kinder runs throughout the year. We rotate the days to ensure EVERY child experiences the program.

This basic routine outline does alter at times according to many different variables that can arise, such as weather, curriculum design and children's interests.
